Some days ago I happened to see a chartered bus for sightseeing or party in Tokyo. This bus would be running in London, though I don't know exactly.

PS. I cannot reply to your comments because I am leaving for the beautiful country of roses. I'll be back in Tokyo and read them on 5th June.

Window eating

Many ordinary restaurants display these samples they serve. They looks yummy but you cannot eat them because they are not real and made of colored wax or something. They are more realistic than the real, indeed. If you go to Tokyo, why not doing "window eating", looking into glass windows of a restaurant just for entertainment and imagine eating them without actually eating??

Today I went to a reception party in Shiodome, Tokyo. The party is the opening one of the exhibition of space, made by Teo, Novara Daily Photo.

Finally I can meet and talk with him.

Seppuku Monaka, a sweet for asking permission

These sweets are called Monaka and made of baked powered rice and red beam added with sugar.

By the way, Samurais, when making a huge mistake or committing a crime, in those days used to seppuku to ask for their permission. Seppuku is to cut their own belly by sword and commit suicide.

Now, business persons usually go and apologize to their customers with some gifts when they made a wrong doing to their customers. This sweet is now popular as a small gift when going to apologize. The Seppuku spirit today seems to become more sweet than severe and bitter.

The neo-futuristic pleasure boat

This pleasure boat for sightseeing is running Sumida River and good to see Tokyo from the other angle.

The design of this boat feels neo-futuristic a little because this was designed by a famous cartoonist, Reiji Matsumoto, famous for the works of "The Galaxy Express 999" and "Space Battleship Yamato". By the way, Daft Punk, French duo of House music, loves his work.

Why not "discover" the other side of Tokyo scenery getting on the boat??

Baby fish, Chirimen-jako or Shirasu in Japanese

These are called Chirimen-jako, or Shirasu in Japanese, baby fish. They are boiled with salt and dried outside, exposure to the natural light.

They are also healthy food, full of calcium. We usually eat them with grated Japanese radish and some drops of soy sauce and vinegar.

A lion status

This lion is put at the entrance of Mitsukoshi, a famous department store in Japan, and the status is perhaps the most famous all over Japan.

This was derived from the Lion status beside the Nelson's column at Trafalgar Square in London and was made because the president in those days loved lions very much.

By the way, if you can ride on the status, not seen by anybody, then your wishes are said to come true.

Full of beans

This photo was shot in front of a Tofu, soybean curd, shop in Tokyo and one of Tofu is sold, put in the bamboo's cup. Tofu is very popular in Japan, and is eaten in a various way: it is into hot miso soup, or boiled up in a pan with some fish and vegetable...

I prefer eating it with a tiny drop of soy sauce, a little sliced long green onion and some grated ginger.

Plus, a bottle of soy milk a day before or after taking a bath totally can break free from my fatigue so I drink it everyday. Soy milk is, literally, full-of-beans drink for me.

Canned drinks, sold at vending machines

Perhaps as you know, many vending machine like these are covering all over Tokyo. Personally I like Dr. Pepper most, of all the drinks.

Sudoku, a cross number puzzle

This is a part of Sudoku, cross "number" puzzle. This puzzle is becoming popular now in Japan.

The below photo is a whole Sudoku grid, consisted of 9x9 cells. Each cell must be filled with one digit number by the following rule: fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1 to 9.

The digits to be entered are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Each row has 9 cells wide. A fill-in row must have one of each digit. That means that each digit appears only once in the row. There are 9 rows in the grid and the same applies to each of them.

Each column is the same as the rows.

The box, containing 9 cells in a 3x3 layout. A filled-in box must have one of each digit. That means that each digit appears only once in the box. There are 9 boxs in the grid and the same applies to each of them.

Grassy carpet for taking a nap

Personally I like to take a nap on the grass and now is the best season for doing it. This park is just in front of Imperial Palace in Tokyo and so many pines are planted and well maintained. By the way, the gods of Shinto religion, a Japanese domestic religion, like pine and so do the Imperial and the Shogun. But, it doesn't mean that they are the god.

Modern and ecological taxi, velo taxi

This is velotaxi, bicycle taxi, and is come from Germany in 2002. This is best for sightseeing in a sunny day.
By the way, here is a traditional and ecological taxi, rickshaw.

Theme Day for the month of 1, May: City Exchange

The remains of a modern city

Some buildings stood here but now were destroyed and removed to make a big road here.

The remains is typical in Tokyo but don't match with Tokyo.

It goes well with Tokyo as a trace of the metabolism of the ever-changing city. But, it is unsuitable for a peaceful city....
