Baby fish, Chirimen-jako or Shirasu in Japanese
These are called Chirimen-jako, or Shirasu in Japanese, baby fish. They are boiled with salt and dried outside, exposure to the natural light.
They are also healthy food, full of calcium. We usually eat them with grated Japanese radish and some drops of soy sauce and vinegar.

Oh, I made your mouth watering again! I prefer soft chirimen-jako on hot boiled rice with a little soy sauce.
By the way, I sometimes make Udon in the morning, using Katsuo-bushi, Souda bushi(宗田節), Saba-bushi and Sanma-bushi. The combination really taste delicious!!
I saw it on ice cream once but wouldn't that taste funny? I never tried it BTW so I don't really know what it tastes like in the first place. I like your description though.

This sounds tasty! I never have tried it, but it I hope to visit Tokyo next summer, and this is going to be the first thing I put in my mouth. First Chirimen-jako, than air. :-)
