Metabolism

Metabolism
This was designed by Kisho Kurokawa, famous architect in Japan, in 1960s and he intended to express his and his group's idea, "Metabolism on architecture". The idea is that the architecture is not just the machine but the organism that will continue to grow through metabolism, like real living organism. Tokyo is indeed scrap-and-built city so this idea came out in Japan.

The building consists of many unit and each unit can be replaceable.

But, unfortunately, this building is dying because of many damage on roof, water service. Too much money and too much skills will be needed to repair the damage and the inhabitant decided to break down this building.

The technique seemed to catch up with the idea...

Taking a nap under the tree, Tokyo
This man is not me but I am "siesta" lover, though I can take a nap only for a very short time. I am now in Japan and we don't have that custom.

Anyway, spring is the best season to take a nap under the trees on a sunny day:-)

Public Mail Box, a French post in Tokyo, April 1 theme day

A French post in Tokyo
Some districts in Tokyo had used this French post till 10 years ago, though most of people living in Tokyo don't know about it. A importer of French wine also imported French public posts and he installed this post in front of his house.

Now only such a few posts are left and this is one of them.

By the way, if you drop a postcard into the box, postmen are kindly enough to put a little perfume on the card for free.

Oh, today is April Fool's Day! and it is up to you whether or not you believe this story:-))

Many Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st April theme, "A Public Mail Box", please use the links to below to visit them. Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.
