Vacuum tubes

These are vacuum tube, or valve and were used in radio till 60'. Still now a shop in Akihabara, one of the major shopping spots in Tokyo, is dealing in them. I have seen the real vacuum tube for the first time and they are as big as 350ml can.

zsolt72, jing: thanks for your comments. Some papers says that they are still now used in some big amplifier and some medical appliance... But I don't know exactly. Anyway, I think that these are the great ruins of the 20th century.

Ah tubes, valves, tetrodes, I used to make use of these when I was a radio ham, I used to make my own transmitters and amplifiers. Couldn't beat them for raw power, better than most transistors, and cheap too!
